Lingumi Intermediate is a digital English course tailored for children aged 5-7. The course comprises 185 lessons, merging teacher-led instruction with interactive games.
The production of this course began researching to understand the needs of children transitioning from Lingumi Foundations, Basics or Phonics courses. A variety of lesson formats were prototyped and tested with users. The format chosen featured semi-real locations and interactive gameplay. The lessons were enhanced by the inclusion of popular animated characters from previous courses, ensuring familiarity and engagement.
Initially five trial lessons were produced and released for pre-sale in the Lingumi app. With sales data validation, efforts were focused on refining the production's look and feel, creating design and animation templates and developing scripts for short adventure stories. These stories were divided into lessons based on language goals set by Lingumi's Education lead, forming the foundation for the course content.
The production process involved meticulous coordination of design assets, animated elements, character illustrations and environment designs. Performers were recorded against a green-screen. Footage was then seamlessly integrated with background environments, animations and visual effects to create immersive lesson experiences. Finally, lessons were configured into the Lingumi app using the CMS Storyblok, with in-house testing ensuring quality before weekly customer releases.
